Chan Lee Wai
Ms. Chan Lee Wai has lived and completed most of her studies in Seremban. She gained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Education, majoring in Mathematics from the University of Malaya in 2009, and loves teaching, with 9 years’ experience in secondary schools and universities. She has taught Maths and Additional Maths, and Engineering Maths for courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture and Built Environment to Malaysian, Iranian, Arabic, and Nigerian students, and was also involved in writing the curriculum for Core Mathematics Papers 1,2,3 and 4 for Edexcel GCE Mathematics in 2016.
In her first year of teaching in Sekolah Sains Sultan Iskandar, a boarding school in Mersing, Johor, her Form 3 class achieved 100% grade A in PMR, and she received a Best Teacher award from the Ministry of Education. Ms Chan’s philosophy of Maths learning is, that besides having a good Mathematics teacher, the way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics – she quotes Einstein’s saying, “It’s not that I am so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer,” and George Polya’s that “All one needs for Mathematics is a pencil and paper.” She firmly believes that in Mathematics, practice definitely makes perfect. Ms Chan is proud to share her passion with colleagues, to build a strong and steady Mathematics Team, and to make NIS students persistent and skilled problem-solvers.

Hello, I am Elaine, and I teach Music from Early Years to IGCSE at Nilai International School. I also play and teach piano, harp, violin and guzheng to everyone from toddlers to adults with learning difficulties.
My B.A. is in Music Performance with First Class Honours from University Putra Malaysia. I hold the Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Music Performance (Piano Recital), and the Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) Diploma in Music Performance (Piano Recital) with Distinction. I teach and play music internationally, and in 2018 I won the Outstanding Gold Prize, High Scorer in The Hong Kong International Music Festival, Malaysia Preliminary Round, before winning Adult Piano First Runner-up in the Hong Kong International Music Festival itself.
This year, in 2019, we actually hosted the Malaysia round of the Hong Kong International Festival here at Nilai International School, and one of our own students has been invited to the finals in Hong Kong. Music teaches vital life skills such as concentration, patience, and dedication. Children of all ages express themselves and find joy through Music, rhythm and movement, and in my IGCSE class I am sharing the works of Mozart with talented young musicians. At NIS, staff sing and perform along with students at our special events, and in our Monday assemblies. Music is a joy that brings together people of all ages and all nations, and that is something we celebrate in our School Song – come visit us on a Monday afternoon for one of our Assemblies, and let us perform for you!
